Aro Velmet
Associate Professor at the University of Southern California & Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Tartu
Aro Velmet is a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Tartu and Associate Professor of History at the University of Southern California. He is interested in how utopias of technological progress are put in the service of statecraft, how experts, interest groups, and subalterns use political technologies, and in the unintended consequences of technological development.
In the Deep Transitions research team, he contributes to the overall theorization of industrial modernity, to qualitative analyses of country-level case studies and to the historical analysis of the great surges of development.
