Jobs

On this page we list job offers related to the project.

Our interdisciplinary research team is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join the European Research Council Consolidator project “Rise and Demise of Industrial Modernity” (RiDe).

RiDe investigates the rise, crisis, and potential transformation of industrial modernity – the dominant socio-technical order underpinning contemporary societies. Using the Deep Transitions framework, the project examines long-term historical continuities and ruptures in ideas, institutions, and practices related to the natural environment and technoscience from 1900 to the present.

Deadline for applications: open until filled
Expected starting date: as soon as possible.
Employment: full-time for three years, with the possibility of extension until the end of the project (30 April 2030).
Salary range: €2500–€3000 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications.

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have experience with at least two of the following and willingness to expand your skill set as required:
    • Scanning existing literature for relevant databases
    • Indicator development, linking theoretical concepts with available data
    • Working with large datasets (e.g. PATSTAT, ECOLEX, Web of Science)
    • Quantitative time-series analysis, including structural break detection and clustering
    • Composite index development
    • Additional skills such as text mining, mixed-methods approaches, or interdisciplinary teamwork are considered an asset.
  • Have a PhD or are close to finishing your PhD studies in one of the following or related fields: sustainability transitions studies, science and technology studies, innovation studies, sociology, political science, economics, economic history, environmental history, environmental studies, or sustainability science. Alternatively, a PhD degree in another field combined with a strong and proven interest in sustainability issues also constitutes a good fit.
